HISTORY

The club was formed 52 year back by the local residents of the area of Barisha, Behala. In total there will not more that 80 families in the community. It has been a very closely organized Puja by the local residents. Insptite its being a community Puja it had all the feelings of community Puja. The Puja committee organize lunch for the all local resident during the Puja. In the year 2001 the Puja Committee decided to organize theme Puja. From then onward they have been in the map of the Puja visitors. They started winning awards from then to till date. They have been even honored by Asian Paints Sharad Samman. The club has very active in social cause & social services. The club takes active participation all the year round in the social programs like mother & health awareness camp, distribution of blankets to needy people, distribution exercise books to needy children and so & soforth.


CHRONOLOGY

2011 Theme : Rangini
  In the daily mundane life, a festive in the season of autumn brings lots of joy, colour and happiness in our mind.
In the same respect Devi Durga is our colourful lady called Rangini.
Barisha Yubak Brinda brings lots of colour depicting the true feelings of vibrancy, joy & happiness due to the festival seasons.
Defying the mundane environment mother Durga glorifies the atmosphere by incarnation in the form of village girl representing mother Devi Durga

2008 Theme : Ghombhira
  This year the Puja Committee had a Ghombhira as theme. This is a famous dance form of North Dinajpur and Mednipur. In this dance form only male performs. The attire mainly consists of a wooden mask of a god or goddess which they will enact through their dance. The mask is specially made by the dancer themselves and is curved out from a single piece of wood and painted. During the dance they do dress up according the requirement of the character.
The pandal was made on a frame which was decorated by wood curving paintings and different form of mask of good & evil made of wood. It was glass prism with water circling in it to beautiful reflection of the wood curving and mask all over. The idol of Devi Durga was made in the same style of mask and it was also given a wood finish.

2007 Theme : Shuto (Thread)
  The theme of this year was Shuto (Thread). A frame of a Pandal was created and have be creatively decorated with different Colour Shuto (Thread). The Pandal was decorated with beautifully by different colour Shuto (Thread) by forming different design at different section of the pandal. The deity was in the traditional for but was Shuto (Thread) was used to ornament and decorate the idol of Devi Durga. The idea of the theme Shuto (Thread) was to show the Connection of all leaving being on earth and that we all are part of big nature interlinked and Interconnected.

2006 Theme : Ghantar dhoni mandir dera chalo jai devi shakti r thane
  This year the theme was an imaginary Village Mandir of Bengal. The ambience was of a Mandir of Devi Durga in the centre and small 10 Mandirs around the main Mandir. The structure had a pond in the middle of the compound. The pond created a beautiful reflection of the idol of Devi Durga to create mesmerizing effect. The visitors entered the compound through the gate and moved through all the Mandirs with Devi Durga Mandir in the centre and came out of the compound visiting Devi Durga Mandir and all other 10 Mandirs. The idol of Devi Durga was in the form of Akchala.

2005 Theme : Engraving Art on Mud
  This year the theme was based on engraving art on mud like the way we find in old caves of Prehistoric times. The pandal was made on five pillars with roof in the shape of half circle. The story of 10 gods donating arms to Devi Durga was engraved & coloured on the inside portion of roof. Each of the five pillars was engraved with each Bahon of Devi Durga on each pillar. The idol was also made in the same concept of Engraving Art Form.

2004 Theme : Hand Fan (Hath Pakha)
  This year the theme of the Puja was Hand Fan (Hath Pakha). The Pandal was decorated by different size, form & different colour of Hand Fan (Hath Pakha). There were fans of different sizes starting from miniature size which would submerged inside a palm of hand to large ones of the size of human beings usually used by Zaminders. The idol of goddess durga was in the form of Akchala (traditional form) and placed with a backdrop of a Hand Fan (Hath Pakha). The Pandal was designed in the form of a arch. Hand Fans (Hath Pakha) were brought from different palces like South Dinajpur, North Dinajpur, Purulia, Bankura, Mednipur, Assam, Rajasthan & Jainagar to showcase the different types of art form of Hand Fans (Hath Pakha).

2003 Theme : Puthi Painting
  In this year the theme done by the Puja committee was Puthi Painting. These painting were done in ancient times on tree leaves. This was the form used to write manuscript when paper was not invented. The painting in the larger form was used to decorate the pandals. Different form of Puthi Paintings was used to design & decorate the Pandal. The idol of Goddess Durga was made in the style of Puthi paintings.
