Born in the year 1945, Behala Club Sarbojanin Durgotsov Committee started establishing itself as a renowned socio-cultural organisation of South Calcutta by its various social and cultural activities and now it has also taken pioneering leadership in the field of Bengal’s Greatest festival ‘Durgotsav’ by being honoured with several awards over the past years and also by the love and blessing of lakhs of people who came to visit our puja pandal started.


2012 Theme : Bajlo Tomar Aloar Benu Bichitro Bichurone
  Durga puja is a celebration of win over good over evil. Behala club this year organise their puja with the theme of celebration of win . After the win of Mother Durga over Ashur the world got lighted with celebration & colors. The symbolizes the win of Mother Durga over evil as a journey from darkness to light. The journey ends with the dispersion of light & colour denoting celebration of life.

2010 Theme : Rupali Foloke Shaktir Alayoy
  This year Behala club invites mother & her power in silver brochette. In this mother is also in silver dressing . Red Flames of the yogya sthall in the centre and where all gods and goddess are in the participation of the creating devi durga to stop the atrocities of Mahishahur. The idea of shakti sthall have been created with the dominance of silver foil. We pass by the corridor with the bells hanging and ringing and the weapons of devi durga being depicted on the walls of the corridor. In the process of worshiping of strength and creation devi durga , all gods & goddess donates different weapons to devi durga. Red colour being used to express the power and rudra rup (form) of devi durga. It’s a creative express of devi durga in rudra ruo (form) where red colour have the main expression of the feeling but devi durga is in silver foil add more expression to the shakti sthall.

2009 Theme : Shristir Antara
  In this the idea was to highlight the human lives and their lively hood. A beautiful village hut was created which has paintings on the wall. The paintings share the life and the livelihood of the people and their struggle for existence. The idol of devi duga was in the akchala format but very colourful and the back dop was painted with different stories of mythology.

2008 Theme : Baluchari
  In this the famous baluchari design of saris were the concept of design and the different design of the this style were used to create the pandal. A small village was created and the walls were created and designed with baluchari design . the design were done on on jute To highlight each design a frame is created and there were stories of mythology were also highlighted. The give an feel of rural and near to roots the ceilings of the main pandal , the gate other shed were also done with hay. The idol of devi durga was made in the baluchari style and wore a beautiful red baluchari sari and to create a rich hue, the idol had a golden finish.

2007 Theme : Gamika Puran
  In this year the idea was to highlight a different side of our society. It was puja at a Ganika‘s home. A ganika locality was created with houses of many ganikas and the middle of the all houses , they were celebrating durga puja. A beautiful tent (Shamiana) was erected and under that devi durga with her family resides. The wall of the locality were designed with different model deigns and in different motions. Some designs depicting the dancing position of ganikas. Devi durga were in the shadika’s form and her backdrop was painted depicting different activities of woman.
