HISTORY

We are socio - cultural organisation which started with some like minded people got together in 1946 and decided to celebrate Durga Puja in the locality.
We uphold a 62 year old heritage of Durga Puja of Bengal.
We celebrated our Diamond Jubilee year in 2005 and the journey continues.
We are situated in the very heart of kolkata and probably the Hub of Bengalis in kolkata, Bhowanipur Area.
Durga Puja over the years have become an integral part of life for the residents of the locality.
Our lady members are more involved than the male members.


CHRONOLOGY

2012 Theme : Swopno Mohamaya (dilemma of dream and reality )
  The theme is our constant dilemma of dream and reality. Chakraberia Sarbojann Durgotsab creates a world of dreams and then shows the path to Agnigorva Mahamaya. Its a constant magnetic pull of Illusion of our dreams and of Mother Durga to show us the correct path. We reach to her through the path of enlightenment and finally receive her blessings.

  Total theme made with bamboo, ply, plastic etc.

2009 Theme : Tamosha Maa Jyotirgomoyo
  The theme envisages Maa Durga as a source of light amidst darkness (depicting negative aspects of the present society) and Maa Durga showing us the way to enlightment to come out of the darkness.
The pandal depicted the darkness & illumination in different forms & shape, the image of Goddess Durga depicted the enlightment

2008 Theme : Naba Patrikay Debiroop
  The theme envisages Maa Durga as a symbol of Nature and how Indian God has always been worshipped as a part of mother nature. The pandel depicted the various forms of Maa Durga and how different trees and plants were replicated and worshiped as different forms of goddess Durga

2007 Theme : Worship of Power through Spirituality and Meditation
  Idol was a replica of Maa Sharbamangala of Burdwan. The theme had an artistic representation of various forms of Maa Durga. The artiste created an ambiance where you could meditate and achieve divine spirituality.

2006 Theme : Panchasasya Matri Aradhana
  The theme envisages Maa Durga as a symbol of prosperity and fertility.
Dhan (Paddy), Job (Bajra), Til (Sesame), Sarse (mustard), Gom (wheat) are the five things which are called Panchasasya in Bengali are used for worship of Maa Durga and are the very essence of the puja. The pandel was made of hay, jute, clay and paintings depicting tales from Hindu Mythology. The Jewellery of the Goddess was also made by Panchasasya.

2005 Theme : The Creative Endeavour with "ALUM" commonly known as Phitkari in Bengali
  The Creative Endeavour with ALUM commonly known as Phitkari in Bengali was used to create an architectural excellence by famous Artisian Dipak Ghosh. The pandal was a depiction of a Mandir and took 3 months to be made. The Mandir had depictions of Khaguraho Sculptures which were made of Alum.

2004 Theme : Trishakti – Conglomeration of power, pomp & prosperity depicting woman power
  Trishakti – conglomeration of power, pomp & prosperity depicting woman power. Three Huts signifying the symbol of Power, pomp and prosperity and self actualization of woman power.
The concept was put into execution with the help of clay tiles, mud, paintings and slokas from puranas.

2003 Theme : The Fishermen Village
  The Fishermen Village was conceptualized and put to execution by Subodh Roy.
He portrayed with various illustrations the life and culture of the fishermen and also Revealed the history of boats.
The concept portrayed the life style and struggles for survival of fishermen and their family through relief work which was meticulously put up with clay work and Wood carvings.
